Firescreen®, the standard choice for Lidl
As in-house supplier to Lidl Nederland, Firescreen® has already delivered many projects. This involved Firescreen® developing a number of standard solutions for new stores, in collaboration with Lidl Nederland. Thanks to the positive experiences in the Netherlands, Firescreen® is increasingly used in stores outside the country.
The challenge
The bakery of a branch in Vienna was completely renewed during a renovation for Lidl Austria. However, this required the removal of an old fire-resistant wall. The bakery has been changed from a closed space to an open-plan area visible from one end to the other, with the possibility of dispensing products in the store itself. However, the former fire compartmentation in the original building had to be maintained. The biggest challenge, however, was caused by the limited space in the bakery and the large span of the opening required between the bakery and the store.
The solution
Firescreen® accepted the challenge. In close cooperation between a Lidl Austria local partner and Firescreen®, a solution was devised to bridge the large span with two Firescreen Temperature® fire curtains placed directly next to each other.
This guarantees both maximum fire safety and the open nature of the new bakery. Thanks to this excellent, solution-oriented cooperation, the first step has been taken to use Firescreen® as a standard solution for Lidl throughout Europe.
