Graubünden Canton Hospital fire safe with Firescreen®
Graubünden Canton Hospital is the main hospital for south-east Switzerland, with a wide range of medical and surgical services. The 33 different disciplines cover most treatments provided by a modern hospital. The headquarters are being expanded to accommodate the growth of these disciplines.
The challenge
Switzerland represents quality! The fire screens must comply with the strict Swiss requirements (VKF) in the field of fire safety, where aesthetics play a major role. Fire safety regulations for a hospital are stringent. If an emergency arises, a hospital cannot afford any malfunctions. The staff must be able to continue their work, otherwise human lives may be at stake. Furthermore, the safety of the many visitors must be guaranteed.
The solution
In cooperation with the architect and our local partner, we accepted the challenge to create fire separations between reception and waiting areas in the hospital with Firescreen® Temperature fire screens. These screens meet the high Swiss VKF requirement, which states that no sprinklers must be necessary. We also decided to make the solution aesthetically attractive by using small hoods and guides in the same RAL colour, making them barely noticeable.
